Bio: Jonathan Gibbs is the president of the Savion Aerospace Corporation, a company dedicated to bringing cleaner energy to aviation by building aircraft with tangible improvements to customer experience and lower operating costs. Mr. Gibbs founded the company with a fellow graduate student while competing in the M.I.T. Clean Energy Prize in 2011 and moved to Silicon Valley in 2017 after Savion received investment from the Alchemist Accelerator and later 500 Startups. To date, Savion has conducted the first liquid natural gas (LNG) powered flights in the U.S. and, received over $60 Million in letters of intent for is remotely-piloted “SavionJet”. Mr. Gibbs has previously worked as an aerodynamicist in product development for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, as a researcher in M.I.T.’s Lab for Aviation and the Environment, and as a doctoral candidate in aircraft design at the German Aerospace Center’s (DLR) Institute of Air Transport Systems in Hamburg. Mr. Gibbs doctoral research is focused aircraft design for alternative fuels and inverse design optimization for market share. Mr. Gibbs holds a bachelor’s of science degree and a master’s of science degree in aeronautics and astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
